Certain life events can affect your benefits. See what actions to take and what to keep in mind as you navigate your life’s changes.

If you need to make changes to your benefit elections as a result of a life event, visit ADP My Pay and Benefits (or use the single-sign-on (SSO) link from the Home page of LPL@Work), or call ADP at 855.894.7752. Changes must be made within 30 days of your qualifying life event, then verified through ADP. (After confirming your enrollment changes in ADP, instructions will be provided onscreen, via email and/or USPS.)

New child
(birth, adoption, or foster)

This is a qualified life event.

When you experience a qualifying life event, such as a death in your family, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com) or call ADP at 855.894.7752 to adjust your benefits coverage and/or update beneficiary information.

Marriage
(or new domestic partnership)
  • Update your personal information, if necessary, in Workday.
  • If you’re changing your name, request a new Social Security card.
  • Adding your spouse as a dependent and/or life insurance beneficiary, and if desired, add your spouse to your benefits (within 30 days of the marriage) in ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com).
  • Review your retirement plan beneficiary information using the Empower/401(k) SSO link from the Home page of LPL@Work or login on the Empower Retirement website.
  • Consider updating your tax withholdings. Both federal and state tax-withholding amounts can be changed in ADP My Pay and Benefits under Pay >> Tax Withholding >> Federal or State. Follow the instructions on each page. (Single sign-on access to ADP is available from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com.)
  • Update your will. Get assistance from the MetLife Legal Plan if you’re a member.

This is a qualified life event.

When you experience a qualifying life event, such as a death in your family, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Divorce 
(or legally separated, ending a partnership)
  • Update your personal information, if necessary, in Workday.
  • If you’re changing your name, request a new Social Security card.
  • Review and update your benefits coverage and life insurance beneficiary within 30 days of the divorce finalization date in ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com).
  • Review your retirement plan beneficiary information using the Empower/401(k) SSO link from the Home page of LPL@Work or login on the Empower Retirement website.
  • Consider updating your tax withholdings. Both federal and state tax-withholding amounts can be changed in ADP My Pay and Benefits under Pay >> Tax Withholding >> Federal or State. Follow the instructions on each page. (Single sign-on access to ADP is available from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com.)
  • Update your direct deposit, if necessary, in your Workday profile under Personal Data >> Maintain Payment Elections.
  • Update your will. Get assistance from the MetLife Legal Plan if you’re a member.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through Lyra.

Death of a dependent
  • Access free, confidential counseling through Lyra.
  • Review LPL’s bereavement and personal leave policies on LPL@Work.
  • Review and update your benefits within 30 days in ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com).
  • Contact the Social Security Administration to end benefits received by the deceased (if disabled or retired) and to determine if benefits are available to the surviving spouse and dependent children.
  • Submit life insurance claims if you are the beneficiary on a policy.
  • Review your life insurance beneficiary information in ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com) and if make any necessary updates.
  • Review your retirement plan beneficiary information using the Empower/401(k) SSO link from the Home page of LPL@Work or login on the Empower Retirement website.
  • Consider updating your tax withholdings. Both federal and state tax-withholding amounts can be changed in ADP My Pay and Benefits under Pay >> Tax Withholding >> Federal or State. (you or a dependent)
  • Review the Tools to Help You Choose to see a full list of helpful benefits resources.
  • Within 30 days of the loss or gain of coverage, Declare the event in ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com) and make the necessary benefit election changes.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through Lyra.

This is a qualified life event.

When you experience a qualifying life event, such as gaining or losing other benefits coverage, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com) or call ADP at 855.894.7752 to adjust your benefits coverage and/or update beneficiary information.

Moving
(to/from a different plan service area)
  • Update your address in Workday.
  • If necessary due to living in a different coverage area, change your Medical Plan election within 30 days of your move in ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com).
  • Find health care providers in your new location.
  • If necessary, update your state tax withholding information in ADP My Pay and Benefits under Pay >> Tax Withholding >> State. Follow the instructions on each page. (Single sign-on access to ADP is available from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com.)

This may be a qualified life event, if you are moving to or from or to a location where different medical plans are available.

When you experience a qualifying life event such as moving your residence to/from a location with different medical plans, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit ADP My Pay and Benefits (from the Home page of LPL@Work or login at my.adp.com) or call ADP at 855.894.7752 to adjust your benefits coverage and/or update beneficiary information.

Retirement
  • Notify your manager.
  • Learn about your options for receiving Social Security benefits, if eligible.
  • Apply for Medicare, if eligible.
  • Decide when and how to access your Empower retirement savings. Login using the Empower/401(k) SSO link from the Home page of LPL@Work or the Empower Retirement website to learn more.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through Lyra.
  • Contact the HR Solution Center to confirm the date and amount of your final paycheck.

This is a qualified life event.

After you’ve retired, you may be eligible for Medicare and/or Social Security benefits. Learn more on the Social Security website. You may also have the option of enrolling in other coverage, such as COBRA coverage or your spouse’s benefits. If you enroll in your spouse’s benefits, be sure to ask your spouse’s employer for their enrollment process and deadline.

Leave of absence
  • Review the Leave of Absence policies on LPL@Work.
  • Notify your manager of your anticipated leave.
  • Call Contact the HR Solutions Center to apply for leave of absence.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through Lyra.
  • Call ADP at 855.894.7752 if you have any questions about your benefits eligibility. If your leave constitutes a qualified life event, use the Decision Support Resources for information and guidance for making election changes.
